Could You Tell If Someone’s Likely To Cheat From Their Voice?

Monday 12 March 2018

We all know that communication is about far more than just what you say, and of course the way you say things can convey all kinds of meaning. However, new research has found that there are subtle cues in our voice that can indicate whether we’re likely to be unfaithful in a relationship.

A study played clips of people speaking and gave the listeners no background information about the person in question. They were then asked to decide how likely that person would be to cheat on their partner.

The result? Those involved successfully rated cheaters as people who were more likely to be unfaithful.

According to the researchers who carried out the study, if a man’s voice gets deeper when they’re talking to someone they find attractive they are more likely to cheat on a partner. Both men and women who are more likely to be unfaithful also vary the pitch of their voice, to make them sound less monotonous.

Of course, this isn’t a way of determining if someone has actually be unfaithful. If you suspect infidelity in your relationship, you may want to hire a private detective in London to find you proof, rather than making unfounded accusations.

The Express recently published figures from IllicitEncounters.com, which found that one-third of married people who cheated on their partner did so with their ex.

A colleague was the next most-likely person for a married man or woman to be unfaithful with, accounting for 25 per cent of affairs. Meanwhile, 15 per cent of those surveyed admitted to having cheated with either a brother or sister-in-law.
